Our Dead Sea Tour
The day will start with pickup at your hotel. We’ll drive all the way down to Massada, an ancient fortress high above the Dead Sea.
This was where the Jewish rebels against Rome made their last stand, choosing death over slavery. Massada is the most visited site in the country after the Western Wall, and it’s easy to see why. The grandeur of the place is incredible. The story is gripping. And the symbolic importance for Zionism is deeply ingrained in the Israeli mind.
After lunch at Massada or a nearby restaurant we continue to Ein Gedi, a natural, year round spring. As we hike up a narrow valley, stopping to swim in clear pools and bathe in waterfalls, we will recall how King David escaped to this place, and notice the wildlife that gathers in this oasis in the middle of the desert.
The Dead Sea
Finally the day ends with a visit to the beach at the Dead Sea. This is the lowest place on Earth, 1,400 feet (423 meters) below sea level. The water is so salty that your feet will lift up and you’ll float float on your back like a buoy. The water, and even more the mud is famously good for relieving a number of skin problems, including eczema and psoriasis.
After all that we’ll make our way back to Jerusalem in time for dinner.

A Better Dead Sea Tour
What You’re Missing on a Budget Tour
With so many options for your tour to the Dead Sea, it’s hard to choose. Every website talks about how amazing the places are, how friendly their service, how easy it is to sign up. There are budget options and pricey options. The budget options can run as little as $100 per person for the day. Gotta admit that’s a great price.
What you don’t know is that the bus that picks you up will spend an hour or two circling around Jerusalem in the morning picking people up. The guide will likely be guiding in more than one language, meaning either he tells you less at each place, or you stay there several times longer than you need to. You will be lost in a group of 50 people, with little personal attention and no ability to personalize your trip.
With InSite Israel you get your own, fluent English speaking guide who picks you up at a time of your choosing and starts the day right. You get the full attention of the guide, a custom and adjustable itinerary, and you won’t get dragged to shops along the way (unless you want to!). We understand that the most precious thing you have is time, and we don’t want to waste a moment.
So Why This Tour?
With InSite Israel every tour is custom made. The itinerary above is a suggestion and we will talk with you about how to adjust to the needs of you and your family.
